Vijay's Political Entry

    Vanga Vijay Vanga…….

Vijay the reigning superstar of Tamil cinema has stepped into politics. Here are some of my thoughts on it. First and foremost, when you see the previous line, I have mentioned that he is a ‘reigning superstar’. There was a contention against it a few months ago. With Rajnikanth the ‘always’ superstar who said a story about Kakka and Kazhugu. My take on that is that Rajni is feeling insecure that Vijay has unseated him and that Kakka, Kazhugu story is a story of sour grapes. Later about a couple of weeks ago Rajni categorically denied and released a press statement saying that he was not referring to Vijay in that Kakka, Kazhgu story. Come on Rajni, show some courage and accept that you were insecure and said that. The whole world knows that you were referring to Vijay, Period. So now that we are clear that who is the superstar (current superstar) of Tamil cinema let’s come back to the main point. That of Vijay’s political entry.

I am glad that Vijay has stepped in. I mean the guy earns about 150-200 crores for one movie. His last few movies have made more than 4000 crores in the box office. He could live a comfortable and luxurious life as an actor. That too he is at the peak of his career now. To leave all that and come into politics takes a lot of guts. I am saying this again I am super glad. But moving forward what Vijay has to realise is that the political scenario has changed drastically. Gone are the days of MGR and Jayalalitha both actors and superstars in their own right. What rages supreme in the political scenario is the cash for votes. It is a big curse for TamilNadu politics (or for that matter Indian politics).

Here I would like to make a couple of points. First point is that people have been so conditioned with money that nothing moves in India as much as money does. I can’t blame them because we all know how the world works. My only take is that Vijay takes cognisance of this fact and plays his own game and wins. It will be tough and the road ahead will by no means be an easy path to travel. But I hope Vijay takes all that in his stride.

The second point is that Vijay should dig in his heels and stay put for the long run. I don’t think it’s feasible that he will win against the mighty ADMK and DMK in his first try. People of TamilNadu are still slowly moving towards political awareness. But the problem is that the middle-class is too laid back, perhaps they have an attitude of ‘Raman andalum Ravanan andalum enakku oru kavalai Illai’. For the rich it really doesn’t matter and they hardly care. What we are left with are the lower middle class and the seething poor class who can be easily influenced with money.

Hey guys (from the middle class). Take a note of Vijay. Don’t be lethargic and start moving, vote for change and make a difference. In short, I am saying vote for Vijay. My vote is definitely for Vijay. But with some conditions.

Vijay has been playing it safe without commenting on any social issues so far. He did not even comment when Mansoor Ali Khan made an ugly remark about his co-star Trisha. All that has to change and he has to boldly voice his opinions and not play it safe. Vijay please keep in mind you CANNOT please everybody. People will always be in different camps . Your job is not to please every camp and become a camp follower. But for you to make the camp with the majority follow you. Moreover you cannot be like the cat that closes its eyes and imagines that the world is dark. Wake up from your slumber, start voicing your opinions in the open. Do not worry about the impact of your voice on the affect it will have on the box office value of your movies. Perhaps you were hesitant earlier because of this factor. Now that you have formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)….I hope you get the Vettri or Victory. You do deserve the victory but it should not be only on your fame (which is difficult in this changed political scenario) but your future actions and on what path you take your party forward.  But again, it all depends on how you play it. People have become a lot shrewder too. So play the game fairly and in your own way and I hope you win.

Here is one to Vijay……Cheers…!!!

Choose your Fish.....

What kinda fish you wanna be.......??

Recently Sania Mirza had shared a beautiful Instagram Story about ‘Choosing your Hard’. She had shared it against all those incessant online trollers who have no other job but to hide behind the anonymity of the digital world and TROLL people. This is what I would like to say to them “Get a life Guys…!!”

Anyways let’s concentrate on the positivity like how Mirza means in her Story. For the unversed find below what she had shared on her Insta Stories

“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.

Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.

Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.

Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.

Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely

To this beautiful story, I want to add a small part which came to mind.                                             It is called Choose your Fish. In life find jobs or find things that you do that you enjoy so that things become like how a ‘Fish Takes to Water’. Otherwise, you will be always a ‘Fish out of Water’.

The same also applies to the company of people you choose. Choose people you are comfortable with or in your own wavelength. Otherwise, you will feel like a fish out of water in their company. So on and so forth. It can be applied to a lot of things and situations.

So, Pick Wisely as Mirza says…...and ‘Choose your Fish’.

American Mom Vs Indian Mom

An American lady was asked…..”Do you have children….?’’…..

She said…..”Yes”…….Two….

“One boy” & “One Girl”

An Indian
lady was asked the same question…..”Do you have children….?”…..

She said….”Yes….but not more than one every couple of years...!!”

This is a classic example of how English is perceived by two different people in two different nations.

Driverless Cars....

Driverless Cars…

…….would you get into one…?

I still remember there was a scene in the movie ‘Total Recall’ where a robot driver drives a car. This happens in planet Mars in the future. What was once in the realms of science fiction is coming closer and closer to reality. Now we know that almost 90% of the flying by commercial aircrafts is done by autopilot. So the question is can we replicate the same on ground…?

On air when you are flying there is no traffic and autopilot for the most part does its job. But the situation on ground is entirely different. There is traffic all around us, pedestrians crossing, children playing, cows and street dogs (a given in India), not to mention unruly drivers, road rage and what not……can a computer navigate all this and take us safely to our destination.

The answer I think is, it is IMPOSSIBLE. Now my skepticism does not arise from mere speculation, it rests on the point of unpredictability, that human beings are simply unpredictable. No matter how many cameras you install on your driverless car, how advanced the AI is you cannot factor in the unpredictability of humans. A driver may fall asleep at the wheel of his car, he may be drunk, he might deliberately want to run you off the road, he might jump a signal, not heed a stop sign, the possibilities are endless. It is not a perfect world.

There is a possibility in future about driverless cars but only in the case when all cars are driven by computers. In this scenario the unpredictability factor can be managed. Even then you must factor in certain situations wherein unpredictability can arise such as children playing on the side of the road and a ball hitting the car, a person suddenly crossing the road etc. I feel that no matter what happens driverless cars are possible only in the perfect world.

No matter how sophisticated a manufacturer claims them to be, I am not setting foot inside a driverless car……how about you…???

What’s in a Name….?

What’s in a Name….?

Recently there was a controversy about the naming of a baby. Yes I am talking about the Saif-Kareena kid ‘Jeh’ or his full name Jehangir Ali Khan. All the right wing trolls have started name calling left and right and are saying that the Jihadi mindset leads to such naming.

There was a controversy earlier too when they named their elder son Taimur. When Shakespeare said “What’s in a name, that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet” the bard made the meaning clear. He insists names are just that….NAMES and nothing else. But if you look deeper ‘Names’ are paradoxical.

One can argue that everything’s in a name and nothing is in a name. Take for example the name ‘Nike’. Well it is a brand name but still…… suppose you go to a shop and buy shoes without knowing the brand name and then suddenly they are revealed to be Nike shoes. What happens next, immediately your perception of the shoe varies. You look at them (the pair of shoes you were about to buy) with a new eye. Everything about the shoe varies… its design, colour and quality immediately hikes up.

But what when it comes to non-entities. Be it a new brand or a person. Now if we call the former non-entities you can say that since they are new and since they have no presence, we might. But when it comes to the latter that is persons/people we can’t say so. Saif Ali Khan or Kareena Kapoor may be highly recognizable names but a Ramesh, or a Satish (….sorry I couldn’t resist…!!) may be entities in their own right. They may not be as famous a Saif or Kareena but then they may be a name to reckon with, in their family circles, in their community, neighborhood etc.

Coming back to the beginning does a name matter…? Does Jeh or Taimur matter. Well it all depends on our perspective. Personally I feel…come on guys…..Jeh and Taimur are innocent kids. Don’t give colour to their name already, it is the personal decision of the parents to name them. The kids are in the budding stage of their life and it is a shame that we are judging them already. This is what I have to say to all their name callers …STOP NAMING….Period.
